Mounting services & frames

For the presentation of your works we offer a full range of supports, frames, passepartouts and boxes. Production is by hand, ensuring customisation to your precise needs, with the same quality as in all our other services and the convenience of receiving the finished product from a sole provider. Our experience will help you choose the most suitable solutions for your needs.

We make our frames by hand, to measure, using the highest quality materials, in a variety of finishes and profiles. Normal or anti-reflective glass can be added to protect the print.

The reflections from glass, especially in suboptimal lighting conditions, tend to detract from the beauty of the printed image. Polarized glass such as True Vue’s Ultravue 70 serves to minimise these. Ultravue 70 has the same anti-reflective characteristics as Museum glass, but at a much more contained price.

Thin aluminium sheet, in classic or satin finishes, provides a perfectly flat mounting surface with very low coefficient of expansion: it can be used for bleed mounting, with the panel standing in relief on a rear sub-frame, or to mount the images within frames.

PlasticBond is composed of a layer of polyethylene sandwiched between two sheets of aluminium, creating a rigid panel much appreciated for a wide range of mounting operations, and particularly for large prints. The mounted image can either be framed, or displayed with the addition of a rear sub-frame.

The semi-expanded PVC panel is one of the lightest and most economical supports. It can be used for bleed mounting of images, displayed by the simple addition of rear-mounted adhesive hooks, or preparatory to framing. This material is also available in different thicknesses, but is not suitable for large prints because of its high flexibility.

Bleed mounting; Within frames

The traditional “window mat” or “passe-partout” has been used since time immemorial, in many variations. Ours are produced in acid-free card stock, in thickness and to dimensions as you specify: hinged with back mat, or in other techniques. This mounting method is useful for adapting different print sizes to a single frame dimension, for enhancing the image, and for safe handling of collected prints.

Thickness

1,2mm; 2,2mm; 2,4mm

We will also handcraft boxes and folders to your specifications, in cardboard, bound in cloth in the colour of your choice and hinged as desired. These can be customised with embossed or foil-stamped lettering: ideal for the presentation of a portfolio or a set of limited-edition images.

Handcrafted shipping cases, built around your mounted prints ‒ highly recommended for shipments of works on rigid supports.
